"I'm passionate about transforming a user interface from one that forces people to think hard in ways they're not used to, into one that makes their task seem simple. The more complex the information, the more excited I am about the challenge."

Who am I

I am a freelance user experience (UX) consultant, specialising in information architecture (IA) and user centred design (UCD) for software applications and websites.

My ten years as a UX consultant includes experience of designing user interfaces in the telecommunications and healthcare sectors and of user testing and eye-tracking for commerical websites.

I am currently part of the team on the Microsoft Common User Interface (CUI) project, partnering with the National Health Service (NHS) to define guidelines for clinical applications. My focus has been on the way that a patient's medications are displayed on screen eprescribing - the creation of electronic prescriptions in hospital environments.

My academic qualifications sum me up quite well. The visual, aesthetic and creative side of me in a Masters in Fine Art and the logical, technical, systematic side of me in a Masters in Human Computer Interaction (HCI).
